In the evening we will leave the hotel and head towards the city center to enjoy a welcome dinner with our guide in one of the most exclusive and peaceful areas of Siem Reap. There will be an opportunity to taste some gastronomic examples of traditional Cambodian cuisine and exchange views with our guide to resolve any questions that you may have about the tour. After dinner we visit the Night Market where we will have the opportunity to get lost in the many colourful stalls selling handicrafts and souvenirs. We will return to the hotel, but those who prefer can stay in the city to enjoy the nightlife and return by yourself. (Tuk-tuk for 4 people = $ 4).
Overnight at Siem Reap
In the morning we drive the 12 miles for our first visit to the Temples of Angkor, in the place known as Roluos Group. This group of three temples was built at the beginning of the classical period, using brick as raw material. The carved heads are among the most beautiful to be found anywhere. We the head to Banteay Srey temple with its impressive carvings in the beautiful pink sand stone located about 35 km North. Along the way we can enjoy watching the Cambodian countryside go by, dotted with beautiful rice fields, traditional houses and farm animals. We have lunch at the Angkor Archaeological Park Temples. After lunch we move on to the Temple of Preah Kang. After a tour of the area, around 4:30 PM a small boat will be waiting by the pier right at the East Gate of the Temple. From there we will begin an unforgettable journey at sunset through the lush nature of the artificial lake Reach Dak Baray. We will stop on the lake to enjoy a refreshing glass of champagne with the last light of sunset. A perfect end to the day.
Overnight at Siem Reap
After breakfast at the hotel we will pick you up to begin the second day at the Temples. Our itinerary is designed to avoid the biggest crowds of tourists by changing the route and visiting hours. The morning starts with a visit to the temple of Ta Prohm, also known as the temple of the jungle, and was popularized by being used as a location for the film Tomb Raider. Towards the end of the visit, a team with makeup and props will prepare us for a fun photo shoot in in the temple, wearing traditional costumes as worn at Khmer weddings. Then we will go to Angkor Thom complex passing through the Victory Gate. This group contains, amongst others, the Bayon and Baphuon Temple, the Terrace of Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. After lunch in the Archaeological Park we head to the majestic temple of Angkor Wat, billed as the largest religious monument in the world and national symbol of the Kingdom of Cambodia (its silhouette is part of the flag). We finish the day by enjoying the sunset at Pre Rup Temple Mountain.
Overnight at Siem Reap
Morning, we will move to the edge of Tonle Sap Lake to visit one of the floating villages. There we will see many houses on stilts, (which in some cases can reach 8 feet tall), arranged to avoid the rising waters of Lake Tonle Sap while taking advantage of their location for fishing. Undoubtedly this place displays a magical and unforgettable landscape that impresses all who visit. After passing through the village, we go on the lake where we gat a real idea of its size.
After lunch we head to the airport for a 45-minute flight to the capital of Phnom Penh. After years of violence and terror, Phnom Penh is a city that is reinventing itself. Many parts of the city are testimony of its French colonial past while the area of the river is a symbol of their future. Upon arrival you will be met by our guide and transferred to your hotel. After registration, we take a cyclo ride through the main streets of the city heading for the base of the mountain Wat Phnom. After a short ascent on foot we will enjoy the last light of day in the pagoda at the top.
Overnight at Phnom Penh.
In the morning we visit the key attractions of the city including the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum, which will give you an insight into the history and monarchy of the past. After lunch we travel around 15 miles to visit the notorious “Killing Fields” where many Cambodians lost their lives in a cruel and violent way. Along with the glorious imperial past and the vibrant and dynamic present, we must complete the picture and not omit the dark recent past relating to the civil war and the Khmer Rouge period. The magnitude of these events some 4 decades ago still have a major effect on the culture of Cambodians. We return to the hotel and after a short break we will get ready to enjoy a dinner cruise on the Mekong. (Kanika Boat).
Overnight at Phnom Penh
After breakfast we head south on National Road 4 heading for the coastal town of Sihanoukville arriving in time for lunch. The 3 hours that this journey takes will pass quickly watching the stunning Cambodian landscape. Once at the port, we board a speedboat to the beautiful and very exclusive Song Saa private island resort.
