Lets go out of Phnom Penh and explore the pre-Angkorian Capital City dated in 5th-7th Century AD and the ruined temple hiding in the village. Moreover; explore the Spider Market on the way.
We are going to pick up you at the lobby of hotel and transfer to Kompung Thom Province and pass the downtown. Then navigate a dirt road to the old city of Chenla. In the early 5th-7th century, Sambor Prei Kuk was the capital of the Kingdom of Chenla, a pre-Angkorian Khmer kingdom that was known in Chinese chronicles as “Zhēnlà.” Constructed by King Isanavarman I. The complex was an important religious center devoted to the worship of Shiva. There are more than 100 temples, mostly made of brick. The temple ruins are located in three main groups, scattered across the semi-cleared jungle.
Explore the serene temples, including the Prasat Yeay Peau, atmospherically smothered by ancient trees, and the extravagant lion carvings of the Prasat Tao. After That, come back to Kampong Thom and continue to visit Kuh Nokor Temple, the largest and best-preserved of the province’s temple sites after Sambor Prei Kuk. Restored during the French period, this laterite temple was built in 10th -11th century by the king Suryavarman I and consists of an enclosure wall, library and central shrine above whose entrance is an excellent sandstone lintel depicting Indra on his three-headed elephant Airavata.
On the way back to Phnom Penh, drop to visit Skun Market, well known as The Spider Market. You will see Buckets and platters containing of enormous spiders, grasshoppers, scorpions and more. Most look like they’ve been deep-fried and cooked to a blackened crisp.
Arrival in Phnom Penh and hotel drop off.
