Sam Veasna Center are a wildlife conservation organisation, running Cambodia's only birding and wildlife ecotours and safaris. From 1 day 'Temples and Wildlife' around Angkor Wat or the outlying temples, to 25 day epic birding and wildlife tours across the country to some of the most remote and remarkable habitats to see Cambodia's critically endangered species. From our wildlife ecolodges in the wild Northern Plains, to Gibbon spotting and jungle trekking with the indigenous Bunong in Seima, Mondulkiri every experience is custom made and totally unique. Our work in conservation and community based ecotourism gives us exclusive access to many of the Wildlife Sanctuaries and Protected Forests - taking our clients places nobody else can with the very best chance to see the incredible wildlife of The Kingdom of Wonder. Partnering with WCS Cambodia, our work directly contributes to population growth and stability of some of the world's most endangered species, a reduction in habitat loss and the stengthening of rurual economies in our communities. Sam Veasna Center is a globally unique and award-winning responsible tourism organization, running specialist birding and wildlife tours around Cambodia. We take travelers to the most important wildlife sanctuaries and protected forests, with the best chance to see Cambodia’s distinctive, rare and endemic birds and wildlife, travelling deep into rural communities with our highly-trained Cambodian guides.

Created in 2003, we are both a wildlife conservation organization and an ecotourism operator creating once-in-a-lifetime experiences. From single-day bird tours around Siem Reap and Angkor, to 21-days across Cambodia, every trip is custom made and contributes to essential conservation and community development in Cambodia.

SVC runs birding and wildlife viewing trips with unique access to Wildlife Conservation Society sites across Cambodia.
Our mission is to sustain Cambodia’s wildlife and communities through ecotourism.
Our tours are designed to show you the best of birding, wildlife and nature, the real places of Cambodia. We take you places that are `off the beaten track’ in wildlife sanctuaries and protected areas as well as the more famous `must-see’ destinations. We introduce you to local people and their cultures, and the result is a birding and wildlife experience that is unique, varied, exhilarating, relaxing and fulfilling, leaving you with a clear conscience.

Expert and local
We are a Cambodian organization with over 13 years of experience in wildlife and conservation work. We spend six month every year training our 12 passionate, English-speaking Cambodian guides and trainees in birding and wildlife-viewing skills. We work with local guides in the rural areas taking you to places which are beyond reach to others, presenting you with the best chance to see key species.

Conservation and responsible travel
Our work delivers essential conservation through community-based ecotourism and provides sustainable livelihoods to local communities. We partner with WCS Cambodia and the Royal Cambodian Government in the protected areas, and our work has been awarded globally as a model of successful conservation.

Unique Access
Our conservation work and partnership with WCS Cambodia gives us unique access to some of Cambodia’s most remote and rare habitats in Wildlife Sanctuaries and Protected Forests, to provide you with the best chance to see critically endangered birds and wildlife.

Cambodia
Still little known as a destination for wildlife watching, Cambodia has an incredible variety of rare habitats and species, many critically endangered. In several of the locations we visit and stay, there will be no one else, a truly unique and magical nature experience.

Awards
In 2016 SVC won Gold Medal at The World Responsible Tourism Awards for Best Contribution to Wildlife Conservation. This was a huge honour and recognition of our work on a global stage, and we are enormously proud. Over the years we have received a number of awards for both our conservation and community efforts, as well as for our service and experience. A few are shown here.

Meet and Guide

Since SVC started running tours in 2006 we have trained up a team of world class Cambodian specialist birding and wildlife guides. SVC guides are passionate and dedicated conservationists as well as guides, inspiring a new generation of Cambodian’s to nurture their environment and love their natural heritage. They take part in field studies, species surveys, work with other global conservation organisations assisting and supporting with their expert knowledge.

We spend the 6 months over low season training and building the skills of our guiding team in technical birding skills, natural history and beyond… extending further every year building knowledge of butterflies, dragonflies, botany and the amazing biodiversity of Cambodia.
Many of the team have been with us for 10+ years now and are known and loved by birders and wildlife lovers the world over. A number of the team are also fully licensed and qualified Temple guides able to uncover the natural wonders and species around Cambodia’s iconic temples.
